Due to flooding caused by a beaver dam, the Catamount Trail has been temporarily relocated from Jones Brook Trail onto Stone Place Trail. If traveling north, rather than turning east on the Jones Brook Trail, remain straight on Stone Place Trail to Little Michigan Rd. Follow the blazes along Stone Place and Little Michigan Trails to the intersection with the Utley Brook Trail. Turn left to ski the Utley Brook Trail towards FS 10 northbound or turn right (south) to access the winter parking off of Danby-Mt Tabor Rd (FS 10).
Section 8: Danby - Mt. Tabor. to Greendale Road

Part back-country and part snowmobile trail, this section of the CT runs through a lovely part of the Green Mountain National Forest, and ends with a long downhill run on Jenny Coolidge Rd.
Length: 9.7 miles
Difficulty:
Skiers encounter mostly moderate turns and slopes, with a few difficult sections. The portions shared with snowmobiles can become icy and narrow. There are several exit points and side loops to shorten or extend the ski day, making parts of this section very accessible to novice back-country skiers.
