The Event - August 31, 2008
Run or mountain bike the famous Mt Mansfield Toll Road and earn the bragging rights of racing to the top of Vermont. Proceeds from this event will be used to help conserve the remaining 90 miles of the 300-mile Catamount Trail. The Catamount Trail Association is the non-profit organization responsible for maintaining and protecting the Catamount Trail.
The Race Course
The course is 4.5 miles long and climbs 2,550 vertical feet to the summit of the unpaved Mt Mansfield Toll Rd in Stowe, VT. The race course starts on pavement for .3 miles before changing to dirt for the remaining 4.2 miles. Racers will experience a steady incline throughout the course with a 10 degree maximum pitch. Participants will be rewarded with one of the most spectacular views in the east overlooking three states and Quebec.
Participant’s clothing will be transported to the race finish prior to the start. Racers will be responsible for a ride down the mountain following the race or follow the Toll Road on foot or on their mt bike. All cyclists must wear helmets and have two working brakes on their fat tire mountain bike. Tires must measure 26 or 29 inch x 2.0 or wider. This will make it a fair race for all participants.
There will be a $10.00 charge for personal support vehicles. Vehicles bringing down 3 or more racers from the finish area will be admitted free of charge. Support vehicles must go directly to the finish area prior to the race start. No vehicles will be allowed on the course after the race start. Participants warm down clothing will be transported to finish area prior to race start.
