Best Value in Vermont is in Your Backyard

Vermonters are cutting back on a lot of luxury items this winter, but the one thing that they have in abundance is free, natural, and made organically –snow!

Map Adventures and the non-profit Catamount Trail Association have published new products that will help you take advantage of that snow. The new Map Adventures map, Mt. Mansfield Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Trail Map shows you the best trails to ski and snowshoe in the open backcountry and directs you to local area cross country ski centers where, for a relatively small fee, you can enjoy groomed trails. Steve Bushey, cartographer, co-owner of Map Adventures and one of the founders of the Catamount Trail, has dedicated this year’s 25th Anniversary Special Edition of the map to the non-profit. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this map will go directly to the organization Catamount Trail Association. “In difficult financial times, non-profits have a real struggle to make ends meet and outdoor groups can be hit particularly hard,” says Bushey. “When organizations like the CTA work to keep the trails open to the public, we all benefit”.

The Catamount Trail has done its part to let people know the best way to have fun in the snow, by releasing the 25th Anniversary Ninth Edition of the Catamount Trail Guidebook. Whether you are going for a day trip or have your sights set on becoming an End-to-Ender for the entire 300-miles, the Ninth Edition Guidebook is a key element for your enjoyment and safety on the Catamount Trail. The Guidebook’s introduction covers everything from Trail history to trip planning while the main portion of the publication breaks down the Trail into 31 sections. Each section includes a comprehensive description of what to expect along the Trail with detailed maps to keep you on course. Both the Mt. Mansfield Nordic Ski & Snowshoe Trail Map and the 25th Anniversary Ninth Edition of the Catamount Trail Guidebook can be purchased through the CTA website store, or at your local sport retailer.
