A constant challenge for thru-skiers of the Catamount Trail is the issue of transportation to and from the trail. We have recently received a number of calls from people trying to plan a ski trip and wondering how to logistically make that possible.
One idea that has arisen is to establish a list of contacts who would be willing to shuttle skiers to and from trail access points, inns, or hotels. (Similar to hiking clubs like the GMC or AMC)
The CTA would not be responsible for any of the arrangements, but would provide skiers with contacts near the desired sections.
It would then be the skier's responsibility to set up the arrangements with the business or individual. The business or individual then determines how far they are willing to transport skiers, how many skiers, and what fees will be charged.
If you are willing to be a part of this effort, please contact Lauren at intern@catamounttrail.org.
Suggestions or ideas? We'd love to hear them too!

there are a couple of fee-for-service taxis/shuttles I'd like to recommend. we've used them when we didn't have a way to spot a car. one is a guy based in east middlebury. I don't want to post details without permission, but he is registered on this forum as jwtown. jwtown is an avid skier, skis the ct often, and knows the area extremely well. he has a rugged 4wd vehicle capable of reaching any trailhead in any weather. his fees are very reasonable. jwtown will also monitor his phone in case you need a mid-tour bailout rescue. and if you're lucky, he'll show you a pair of mining road cruisers! jwtown, hopefully you're reading this and can post further details. if I don't see a post soon, I'll call jwtown and ask him to respond.
alternatively, if you're on the other side of the mountains near warren, I recommend c&l taxi: 802 496 4056. they provide prompt, reasonably priced service. they also have vehicles that can haul skis and are experienced at shuttling skiers.

Thanks for the information Paul!
We'll give C&L taxis a call and wait to hear back from jwtown with his information.
Let us know if you think of any other people or companies that would be willing to help out!
