I tracked the trail from Landgrove Hollow Rd. So. to the bridge .6 mi. No. of Rock Bottom Ln. today, Monday--and yesterday from Hapgood Pond Rd. to Anderson Rd. Slow going!...and really sticky today, but a marvelous trip through these extensive hemlock forests. Portions of the southern part had been snowshoed, which actually made the going easier. Also, it looked like the trail going No. of Hapgood Pond Rd had been tracked. Over the weekend I heard from Paul in Mt Holly that the Jan 28 storm left a nasty crust up in the Section 11 area, so I was happy to see none of that down here. Section 8 should llikewise be free of crust, but the whole area conditions could suffer from today's mild thaw and the ensuing freeze--think of deep frozen tracks.
All this in preparation for next weekend's big 3-day tour.
