My initial drive-by assessment that Section 2 (Harriman Dam to Rt 9) had escaped ice-storm damage turns out to be optimistic. Skiers skiing between Harriman Dam and the rock cut just north of Wilder Brook should be prepared to ski over branches and through tree tops, go off trail to avoid trees and remove skis to get through one messy tangle. There are about a dozen significant obstacles, but through skiing is easily accomplished, just allow a little more time than usual. We loppered and hand-sawed some of the blowdowns so it will be easier for those who follow. Feel free to bring loppers or saw yourself and lend a hand! Complete clearing will require at least one day of chainsaw work, and probably won't happen until February. From Wilder Brook to Medburyville the trail/road has been cleared enough for skiing.

The snow conditions were perfect, and this was before Sunday's 6+" of powder.

Paul, Geoff and I cleared out the ice damage reported above. You can now ski through without leaving the trail or removing your skis. We didn't get everything, just the show-stoppers.
Conditions were fine, light fluff on breakable crust with a good track, although the sleds have gone where they shouldn't and packed the track in places. Only a few small surface water spots to watch for.
Here's Paul working on one of the bigger messes.
