Seven of us ventured up to Lowell to be led and fed by Jan. We began with a lovely cruise on Jan's trails which he groomed for us that morning. The 6+" of fluffy on top of 3" or so slushy was beautifully skiable. After a quick warm up stop, back out we went for 2.2 miles of Section 28 from Rt58 to Lowell Town Hall. Cover was sketchy in forested areas but in other sections there was 6+" of powder on a perfectly adequate (in places crunchy) base, streams still open but no wet sections. We repaired to the leader's cozy house for his legendary and delicious pea soup and other goodies - all very joyful to be skiing again.
