Having left the Stowe "powder pocket" behind, today's ski lacked fresh snow. None the less, there was adequate coverage on all but a very few pieces of the trail. Skins were handy for the first part of the Elmore ascent, and selectively later on. Sunshine and temperatures in the upper twenties added softness to the snow surfaces, allowing our metal edge skis good control through a challenging ski.
All 14 skiers met their goals for the day. The Elmore Store with ample fresh cookies and hot chocolate was a terminus for some, and a re-energizer for others who then continued on the final leg of this 14.1 mile tour.
