I am trying to piece together going from end to end and staying at different places the whole way.
What is your favorite, most on/near the trail lodgings?

Do you mean commercial lodging, as opposed to shelters, etc.?
There are several places in West Wilmington within walking distance from the trail, but I haven't stayed in any.
Blueberry Hill is nice and right on the trail, Edson Hill is expensive and right on the trail. Nye's Green Valley Farm Bed and Breakfast in Jeffersonville is close to the trail. Your guidebook will show you some others.

I mean commercial places or people's sofas.
the idea is to plan an end to end thru-ski and stay in a bed each night and not carry all the camping gear. I have taken a close look at the guidebook to come up with most places and the few you mentioned will also help. The tricky part now is finding the time to do it when the conditions are good enough to make it possible.
