Wow, great site wish I found it at the beginning of the winter!
I started XC skiing 2 years ago at touring centers and gravitated toward BC skiing. stil rather new at it. I have one system set up ,Alpina Tracker metal edged bc ski (64 shovel) NNN magnum bindings and Rossignol boots with ankle support I use for lighter trails here and also at the centers and just picked up a brand new pair of Rossignol BC X-11 75mm 2 buckle boots .I have a friend who wants to sell Madshus Annum 165 with G# targa binding for real short money. Im roughly 168 without pack and I see the weight listed for this ski is less . will it be suitable for the trail and my weight? I've also been offered a new Pair of Fischer Sbound 98's. Will these 3 work for the trail? Im also intrested in Rossignol BC 125's. Hope these aint too long winded of a post..

How much for the Annums? I think they are too small for you but I know of a couple of girlfriends who would love a pair! I ski on the Karhu Guide, which is what the Annum is replacing. Wonderful wonderful fun ski.
Here my $.02 worth:
But for getting from point A to point B the Guide/Annum is probably too much ski. I use it for when I searching for turns in the hills, and need to switch from climbing to descending frequently, not for big-mountain skiing. And, I wouldn't use it for a longer tour unless the snow is crazy deep and I know we'd be going slow and I wanted something to float better. The S-bounds should be a nice compromise between touring and turning ability. I have a pair of those, too.
If you like telemarking, the Fischer would is most likely super great. Again, I wouldn't use it for longer distance touring.
Ideal strategy: but as many different equipment combinations as possible

He wanted around $250.00 for the annums with G3Targa Bindings. He said they worked good for him at 180 but I am always leary of using something not designed for my weight. I'll pas it on to him if you were serious about your friends. He is near the Vermont Border but skis up there.
Ive seen some Rosssignol BC125's for under $300 and thought they might be good for touring turns and I could get the sbound more for touring the trail.
I like your idea about having skis for each condition! It's kind of addicting like cycling..

Yeah, the desire for those skis might be serious. I just sent a note to girlfriends and will let you know if either of them want to be put in touch with the seller. That is, if you don't decide to buy them. They might be a little beat-up by the heavyweight!

Ooops sorry for delay in coming back! I can definitly drop him a line for you. I found a pair of atomic X-Terrains and voille CRB binding in my size used for $100.00 the guy says the bottoms are spotless a few scratches on the top sheet and says he thinks they will last a long time. Id rather stick to my recomended size. I have a pair of Alpina Trackers with a 64 shovel and steel edges NNN magnum binding and Fischer BC-x 6 NNN backcountry boots that pretty versatile. Probably better suited for flatter terrain. I'll find a heavier toruing set-up that will fit my Rossignol BC X-1's something for in between....
Thanks for your advice!
Jack
