  • The Catamount Trail Association (CTA) was founded in 1984 by Ben Rose, Steve Bushey and Paul Jarris.
  • The CTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions made to the CTA are tax-deductible.
  • The operating budget of the CTA for 2006/2007 is approximately $190,000. More than 70% of the budget comes from membership dues and contributions.
  • Membership in the Association supports the building, maintenance and protection of the Catamount Trail and a voice for backcountry skiers in the Green Mountains. The CTA has more than 1,800 active members and contributors as of August 2007.
  • A program for permanently conserving the Trail through the acquisition of trail access easements is being implemented vigorously. See the Trail Protection Campaign pages for more information.
  • The CTA currently holds 28 easements which, combined with additional sections protected by other conservation organizations and several long-term license agreements, protect more than 70 miles of the Catamount Trail on private land. Click here for a summary of CTA’s easements.
  • The current guidebook is the Eighth Edition Catamount Trail Guidebook, released in November 2003.
  • The CTA is grateful for the generosity of more than 200 private landowners whose land the Trail traverses.
  • The CTA office is located on the second floor of 1 Mill St., Suite 350, Burlington, VT 05401 in the Chace Mill on the Winooski. Come visit!
